We are less than a week away from Nino Niederreiter’s arbitration hearing and an agreement between the Minnesota Wild and the restricted free agent has yet to be reached.

General manager Chuck Fletcher still hopes to get long-term deals in place with Niederreiter and Mikael Granlund. Ideally, as he tells the StarTribune, it would be somewhere in the „three- to five-year range“. While the Swiss forward is looking for a long-term contract, the salary has to be right as well.

The Swiss forward is believed to be seeking „a long-term contract north of $6 million annually“. It remains to be seen of the two parties can find an agreement before the hearing or then shortly before the arbitrator’s verdict. So far, the two parties have not negotiated much. As the 24-year-old told Blick last week, he had not yet received a second offer from the Wild since filing for arbitration at the beginning of July.
