Le Matin had already reported yesterday that Rod would join the San Jose Barracuda in the AHL for the rest of the season. The 20-year-old forward was selected 53rd overall by the San Jose Sharks in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft and now has the chance to gain some NHL experience.

Furthermore, as RTS reports, Rod met with Patrick Fischer regarding the national team camp on April 5. Apparently, the head coach of the national team supported Rod's choice to terminate the season in North America.
