National Hockey League

The NHL Free Agency hit yesterday and one of the players receiving a new contract was Denis Malgin.

Signed to a one-year, one-way contract worth $750,000, the 25-year-old forward will thus return to the Toronto Maple Leafs. He had already played for them in the 2019-20 season, albeit only for eight games. In his last contracted year with them, he suited up for Lausanne HC.

As the National League and the NHL have a transfer agreement, Swiss players can exit their current contracts before July 15. As they have lost one of their leading scorer of the past season, the ZSC Lions will now focus on finding a sixth import player.

They will, however, also provide an opportunity to their prospects Silvan Landolt, Nicolas Baechler, Marlon Graf, Joel Henry, Liekit Reichle, and Livio Truog to play some games with the first team.
