The defenseman has apparently retired during the off-season and has rejoined a former team in another function.

As The Hockey Writers reports, the Ducks' play-by-play commentator Steve Carroll mentioned - during a rookie game between Anaheim and Colorado - that he had a chat with Luca Sbisa. The Swiss defenseman told Carroll that he had been added to the NHL-club's development staff.

Sbisa, who was a member of the Nashville Predators last season (but only made one game and was sidelined due to an injury for a while), apparently retired during this past summer. The 31-year-old spent the better part of the last 13 seasons with various teams in the NHL. From 2009 to 2014, he was a member of the Ducks.
