NHL/NLA - According to several sources from overseas, last year's NLA top scorer Peter Mueller was placed on waivers yesterday night and reportedly is not committed to playing in the AHL. He seems to have an offer from Europe - from Kloten?

Peter Mueller, 26, tried his luck with the St. Louis Blues. This adventure suffered a first setback yesterday, when he was placed on unconditional waivers. If no other NHL team claims him, he would have to play with St. Louis' AHL-affiliate, the Chicago Wolves.

According to journalist Andy Strickland (CBS Sports), however, Mueller is "obviously not committed to playing in the AHL." Sportsnet analyst Elliotte Friedman even said that Mueller wants to terminate his contract and might prefer a European offer. It would not be surprising if the Kloten Flyers would happily take him back.

To Lou Korac, who covers the Blues for nhl.com, St. Louis General Manager Doug Armstrong said that the two parties will talk one more time if Mueller clears waivers "to make sure he wants out of contract." If that is the case, he will be released and no buyout will be necessary.

UPDATE As the club has announced on Twitter, the St. Louis Blues and Peter Mueller have agreed to terminate their contract. Mueller will return to play in Europe. - 08 October 2014, 8:28 PM
