The forward, who signed his first NHL contract yesterday, would return to Switzerland if this were to happen.

"My agent has stipulated that if I crossed the Atlantic, it was out of the question that I spend the season in the AHL," Haas tells the Journal du Jura. "If it is necessary to get used to the play over there, it is clear that I will go down for one or two weeks. But if this stay were to continue, a solution would be found for me to return to SC Bern."

Haas signed an entry-level deal with the Edmonton Oilers on July 1. As he is under the age of 28, he received a two-way deal. If he plays in the NHL, his salary will be at $925,000, in the AHL $70,000.
