National Hockey League

The Florida Panthers submitted a qualifying offer to Denis Malgin, but not to Vincent Praplan, who will become UFA from July 1.

Vincent Praplan has not received an offer from the Panthers.

By issuing these qualifying offers, teams are given the right of first refusal or draft choice compensation should the player sign an offer sheet with another team. Mirco Müller, who is with the New Jersey Devils since 2017, and Timo Meier, a Shark since 2016, were also qualified by the respective teams.

Back in May, Praplan signed a four-year deal with SC Bern which includes an NHL out clause for the first three years of the contract. At that time, however, the forward wanted to play in North America for at least another season.

Now that the 25-year-old has not been qualified, and will, therefore, become an unrestricted free agent, it remains to be seen if he will be able to convince another NHL team to sign him.

As SC Bern's team manager, Alex Chatelain, tells Der Bund, Praplan has, at least until now, not received an offer from another North American team. Nevertheless, the forward has time until mid-July to earn himself another contract overseas. After that, his contract with SC Bern will kick in.
