A second Swiss player will, therefore, join the Panthers' franchise, where Denis Malgin has been playing since the 2016-17 season. Praplan is signed to a standard, entry-level contract, which is set to expire at the end of the season. Praplan has been immediately loaned to the AHL affiliate of the Panthers, the Springfield Thunderbirds.
This season, his first in North America as a professional player, Praplan played for the Sharks' AHL affiliate, the San Jose Barracuda. In 27 AHL games, Praplan scored four goals and put up twelve assists for a total of 16 points.
