Geisser was attending the Caps' training camp but was part of the most recent roster cut. His fellow Swiss blueliner Jonas Siegenthaler is still with Washington.

19-year-old Geisser was drafted by the Capitals in the 4th round (120th overall) in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft. In March 2018, he was signed to a three-year Entry-Level contract.
