The club of the Swiss League will move a few kilometers south and change their name to Bellinzona Rockets.

The newly formed HC Rockets SA, which will start its activity after the change of the statutes of HC Biasca SA, has informed the media that an agreement between the two remaining shareholders, HC Ambrì-Piotta and the GDT Bellinzona, has been reached allowing the club to continue its existence in the Swiss League.

Administrative and operational management will be provided by the GDT, while the sports management of the club will be entrusted to a committee with the presence of representatives of HCAP, GDT, and any other clubs involved. At the moment, talks are ongoing with another National League club (possibly the SCL Tigers, as reported here).

The decision of the Bellinzona Rockets allows now the SIHF to finalize the planning of the Swiss League for the upcoming season. "I am pleased that the situation surrounding the Swiss League has now been definitively clarified," says Patrick Bloch, CEO of Swiss Ice Hockey. The 2023-24 season will thus see ten clubs in the Swiss League: EHC Basel, Bellinzona Rockets, HC La Chaux-de-Fonds, GCK Lions, EHC Olten, HC Thurgau, EHC Visp, EHC Winterthur, HC Sierre, and HCV Martigny.
