As reported by the Norrbottens-Kuriren earlier today, the 36-year-old forward will join EHC Basel.

EHC Visp

Niklas Olausson has been without a team since the end of the last season when his one-year contract with EHC Visp was not extended. The Swede had previously told hockeysverige.se that he was waiting for the right opportunity, as he was not satisfied with the offers received over the summer. EHC Basel is now set to be his next team.

Currently, EHC Basel has two imports under contract for the remainder of the season: Jakob Stukel ((CAN)) and Brett Supinski ((USA)). Supinski, however, sustained an injury after being crashed into the boards two weeks ago and has missed the last five games.

The club has not announced a timeline for his return and has now signed Olausson as an injury replacement for Supinski. He will stay with the team until Supinski recovers from his injury. Olausson will arrive in Basel tomorrow and play his first game on Sunday.
