Eight years after the bankruptcy, EHC Basel will play again in one of the two highest ice hockey leagues in Switzerland. The achievement came after beating HCV Martigny 3-1 in the best-of-5 semifinal series of the MySports League. The third and decisive win was registered this evening in Martigny with the final score of 2-5.

In the final of the MySports League championship, EHC Basel will face Hockey Huttwil, which did not apply for promotion to the Swiss League. As one team will have to be promoted by default from the MySports League to the Swiss League after the termination of the EVZ Academy, EHC Basel has thus already reached its goal even without having played in the final yet.

As team manager EHC Basel, Olivier Schäublin told the NZZ this morning, the club should manage to get a budget of 2.6 to 2.7 million Swiss francs for the upcoming season in the Swiss League.
