"My decision has not yet been made, I don't want to close any doors, but I won't take any risks," Thibaut Monnet tells Le Nouvelliste. The forward suffered the concussion in a preseason game against EHC Visp and while he does not experience pain anymore, he is not ready to return to competitive sports.
"[Playing competitive sports] is still not recommended. As it is, it's not on the agenda. In any case, I don't want to take any risks," Monnet states. "The head is not like breaking a finger. I know enough players who suffer in their daily lives after a concussion. It's not trivial at all."
Whether he will retire or try to play again has not yet been decided. He emphasizes, however, that at his age, hockey is no longer a priority and that he will listen to what his doctors recommend.
