HC Thurgau

"When you have a guy like Mike Babcock give you a call and provide you with an opportunity like this, it's very, very difficult to say no," Derek Hulak told the StarPhoenix. "I'm pretty honored to be even considered for a position like this. For me, being able to learn under coach Babcock, with his resume, [...], was an unbelievable opportunity and I jumped on it."

While Hulak will thus definitely not be part of HC Thurgau's roster for the 2021-22 season, the Swiss League team is busy looking at their options. According to the Thurgauer Tagblatt, they are currently in talks with HC Fribourg-Gottéron about their youngster Dominik Binias.

The Dragons are looking to loan the 18-year-old forward, who recorded 23 goals and 17 assists in 35 games for their U20 team, to a Swiss League team so that the Czech can gain a bit more experience.

As the same source reports, HC Thurgau is also looking to maybe add a goalie on a loan basis to their roster. They were also in talks with Lausanne HC about Viktor Östlund, but given that HC Ajoie and EHC Kloten both showed interest in the goalie, their cards are not particularly good. It thus remains to be seen who they will acquire for their second goalie spot.
