Since the start of the championship in the OHL was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Brennan Othmann was looking for an opportunity to get some action in Switzerland until the start of the season in Canada. As the forward is a Swiss-Canadian dual citizen, he will not be a burden on the contingent of foreigners of EHC Olten. Moreover, as the youngster will be accommodated in a host family, he will not weigh on the budget.

Othmann, a top prospect eligible for the 2021 NHL Entry Draft, spent the 2019-20 season with the Flint Firebirds, scoring 17 goals and collecting 16 assists in 55 games. Both his father Gery and his uncle Robert played hockey in Switzerland for several years.
