Swiss League

The profit of CHF 31,948.- is surprising, as, at the beginning of the season, a deficit was expected.

Unexpected positive financial result for EHC Winterthur.

This profit is even more surprising, considering that the budgeted average of 1200 spectators per game was not achieved. In fact, on average, 996 spectators were present. The reason for this unexpected result is due to the many injured players. EHC Winterthur had so many injured players last season that the insurance premiums more than made up for the lack of spectators. Nonetheless, this was not the ideal situation for Rolf Löhlrer, president of the club: "I would rather have had fewer injured players and less insurance money, but more points and more spectators."

After two loss-making first years in the Swiss League, which are still reflected in the balance, EHCW has now made a profit for the second time in a row and the idea is to close with a profit also the upcoming season, which will see a budget of 2.4 million CHF, a little lower compared to the 2.5 million CHF from last season, even though this year, for the first time since EHC Winterthur plays in the Swiss League, the possibility to relegate in the MySports League was reinstated.
