Back in January, the city and SC Langenthal had rather specific plans for a new stadium. At today's press conference, the hockey club announced that their subsidiary, Arena Oberaargau AG, will not be part of the lead in the project anymore. This is due to the city changing their plans and making it impossible for Arena Oberaargau AG to fulfill its purpose.

The club also announced that they will not take an active part in any further infrastructure projects of the city and instead focus on hockey and development. Furthermore, they request the city to define a strategy for ice sports and set an appropriate framework for the club.

The city council, besides delaying and changing the project, also intends to lower their investment into the current rink, Schoren, which the club does not want to accept, commenting that the rent for the ice is already quite high and them being the only club in the canton of Bern which has to pay rent for the junior section.

It remains to be seen if, how and when there is going to be a new arena for SC Langenthal.
