The 25-year-old defenseman is dealing with a knee injury which requires surgery and has ultimately forced him to put an early end to his professional hockey career, the Swiss League club announced in a media release.

Blatter went through the ZSC/GCK Lions organization and made his first steps in Switzerland's highest league with the ZSC Lions during the 2014-15 season. In 2015, he then joined the SC Rapperswil-Jona Lakers, before he moved on to Winterthur two years later.

Overall, Blatter has appeared in a total of 22 National League games (one assist) as well as 221 Swiss League games, in which he managed to record three goals and 18 assists for 21 points.
