The 43-year-old, whose previous contract would have been valid through to the 2018-19 season, took over the lead behind the boards for EHC Winterthur in 2016. Although the Swiss League team finished this year's regular season in tenth place, the club's board of directors and the management have expressed their confidence in him.

The ZSC Lions' former long-term forward (1992-2007) started his coaching career 2010 in Visp, before he moved to the shores of lake Zurich in mid-December 2013, where he led the SCRJ Lakers first as assistant and one year later as head coach ad-interim during the League Qualification.
