As the club informs, Robert Mayer has been involved in an accident with a quad over the weekend in which he was seriously injured. The 27-year-old will be out for several weeks, for how long exactly is not yet known. In August, the GSHC's medical staff will re-evaluate the situation.

As a consequence of Mayer's injury, Genève-Servette HC recalls their netminder Gauthier Descloux from HC Ambrì-Piotta. In accordance with their loan agreement, which permits them to call back Descloux in case one of their goaltenders is sidelined for more than eight weeks, the 20-year-old thus returns to Geneva at the end of the month.

Genève-Servette HC is also looking at maybe signing an import goaltender in case Mayer will be out long-term. According to Le Matin, they have already looked at the market but they are definitely not close to acquiring somebody. One potential candidate is apparently Canadian netminder Kevin Poulin, who played for Barys Astana last season (.909 save percentage in 14 games).

HC Ambrì-Piotta, on the other hand, informs that they are looking for another goaltender to replace Gauthier Descloux until Robert Mayer has recovered and Descloux will be able to return to the Leventina.
