The 32-year-old defenseman had been playing in the National Hockey League for the ten seasons when, one week ago, he announced his retirement from the NHL. He was a long-time member of the Nashville Predators until he was acquired by the New York Rangers on January 22, 2014 in exchange with Michael Del Zotto. For the Rangers he played three more seasons.

Over the course of his career, Klein appeared in a total of 700 NHL-games, in which he put up 173 points (42 goals, 131 assists). Last season, he suited up in 61 games for the New York Rangers, scoring three goals and 12 assists.
