The defenseman has played abroad before. From 2013 to 2015, he suited up for Severstal Cherepovets of the KHL. He then returned to Sweden for one season before signing with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the AHL. Last year, he once again played in the KHL with Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg.

In 37 games with them last season, the 29-year-old managed to put up 13 points (three goals, 10 assists). In addition, he appeared in six games for Sweden's national team.
