The idea is quite simple: Swiss teams would face each other only four times, but they would additionally play six home and away games against European teams. The points obtained from these games would be taken over to the national championship. This would result in one or two road trips within Europe.
According to the ZSC Lions' team manager Edgar Salis, this idea appeals to the members of the think tank for European hockey clubs, as it would add sporting value and more variety to the national championship. How and whether this idea could be implemented into the championships of Europe remains to be seen. It is certain that it definitely would not be easy, especially given the fact that the national championship is the core business of every European club.
