TVA journalist Renaud Lavoie broke the news this afternoon that NHL free agent Lapierre has signed a one-year contract with MODO. Strickland, who is a St. Louis based reporter, later revealed that Lapierre actually had explored several options before settling for MODO. However, the team has yet to confirm the deal.
Lapierre was drafted by the Montreal Canadiens in the second round of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. Since then he has appeared in 694 NHL games, scoring 72 goals and 82 assists for the Canadiens, Anaheim Ducks, Vancouver Canucks, St. Louis Blues and the Pittsburgh Penguins. (mso)
