Without a club despite ranking sixth in the standings of the Liiga's top scorers, Henrik Haapala has apparently decided to return to Switzerland five years after his experience with HC Lugano. Genève-Servette HC began the season with six imports under contract but Theodor Lennström has yet to hit the ice due to a lower-body injury.
Last season, Haapala suited up in 47 regular season games for Ilves in the Liiga scoring 15 goals and collecting 32 assists, good for sixth overall in the top scorer's standings. In the playoffs, Haapala added three points in eleven games.
