Bound to Genève-Servette HC by a two-year contract signed in March, Theodor Lennström might not get to suit up in the National League with the reigning champions after all. The Florida Panthers, finalists of this year's NHL playoffs, are reportedly interested in adding the 28-year-old Swede to their roster.
"I won't know until after June 15. That's the rule," explains Marc Gautschi, GSHC's team manager, to the Tribune de Genève. As part of the agreement between the NHL and the National League, the NHL teams have until June 15 (i. e. tomorrow) to sign players under contract in Switzerland for the coming season.
Lennström is an undrafted player who never suited up in the NHL but already took a shot at it during the 2020-21 season, which he ended up spending in the AHL with the Bakersfield Condors. Last season, he collected 32 points in 37 games with Färjestad BK.
