Due to Connor Hughes' departure, the backup role needs to be filled for next season.

Budgetary reasons made it impossible for Christian Dubé to match other teams' offers to Connor Hughes. As a consequence, HC Fribourg-Gottéron's team manager has started to scout the market for a young goaltender to replace the departing one.

As Dubé tells La Liberté, Loïc Galley, who is still under contract with them for another year, will not be an option. "He is too young. He has a lot of ups and downs. He needs to play a second season." The 20-year-old is on loan with EHC Winterthur for the current season.

Jeffrey Meier, signed by the ZSC Lions until 2024 but with the Dragons as injury replacement for Reto Berra at the moment, would perhaps be a candidate, as La Liberté mentions.
