"I liked the Swiss [National] League and being in Geneva, but the best players always play in the NHL. It's always tempting." Vatanen says in an interview with the Finnish news outlet MTV Uutiset.
As the 30-year-old reveals, he already had contact with some teams overseas. "We've talked a bit now and then. We'll see what happens." Throughout his career, Vatanen played nine seasons in the NHL, suiting up for the Anaheim Ducks, the New Jersey Devils and the Dallas Stars.
During his stint with Genève-Servette HC this season, Vatanen scored nine goals and 30 assists in 39 games for the Eagles. His contract expired at the end of the season.
