The game did not start well for EV Zug, as the ZSC Lions' Justin Azevedo scored in the second minute of play. Dario Simion did, however, manage to tie the game in the 18th minute of play.
The second period once again started off with a goal, this time for Zug: Fabrice Herzog scored the second goal of the game for the Bulls, Zug's second on the power play. It turned out to be the game-winner, as the ZSC Lions did not manage to come back from the deficit. Dario Simion then made it all clear with his empty-netter 50 seconds before the end of the game.
Zug thus wins their second consecutive title. In order to advance to the final, EV Zug had to beat HC Lugano in the quarterfinals (4-0) and HC Davos in the semifinals (4-0).
