According to Aftonbladet, the 31-year-old Swedish forward has agreed on a multi-year contract with his former club.

Long courted by his formative club, Marcus Krüger is expected to join them this summer and thus not extend his expiring contract with the ZSC Lions. Krüger has not played in Sweden since 2011 when he left Djurgårdens IF for the organization of the Chicago Blackhawks.

However, as the same source reports, there is one thing that can stop the deal. If Djurgårdens IF gets relegated from the SHL at the end of the current season then the contract does not apply. At the moment, the team from Stockholm sits in the last place in the standings and will probably have to play in the playout.

In his three seasons with the ZSC Lions, Krüger collected 71 points in 121 championship games. In February, he will suit up for Sweden in the Olympics. In case of victory, he would join the prestigious "Triple gold" club, having won two Stanley Cups and a gold medal at the IIHF World Championships.
