The forward's contract is up after this season and it seems certain now that it will not be extended.

Lausanne HC hoped that Christoph Bertschy would remain with them, but according to Blick, the forward has decided to leave his current club. Recently, SC Bern, HC Fribourg-Gottéron, and HC Lugano were mentioned as potential destinations for the international winger, although there are some financial concerns from these clubs.

"Of course we are interested, but to date, we have not made an offer", Bern's team manager Andrew Ebbet states to 24 heures. "We have a budget, and not everything is decided yet in terms of strategy for the 2022-2023 contingent, where an additional import will be allowed. If I have to decide today, Bertschy, it is not possible. Later in the season? Who knows? But maybe by then, he will no longer be available."

Financial concerns are also playing a part with Fribourg. "Of course I would like to have him", team manager Christian Dubé comments. "But a player like that does not cost 100,000 francs a year. We have to discuss this internally, to see what is possible. But I do not have too many illusions."
