Until August 15, the forward could still sign with an NHL team. However, they would have to make him an offer he cannot refuse.

"When I think back to the end-of-season discussion with the Oilers, there is little chance that I will return to Edmonton," Gaëtan Haas tells the Journal du Jura. "For me to go back to the NHL, [...] a team would have to agree to give me a more important role than the one I had with the Oilers and, also, a better salary."

Given that free agency only starts on July 28, the window for him to get an offer from other NHL teams than the Oilers is thus narrow. It seems thus likely that EHC Biel will be able to count on the forward come September.
