National League

As Le Matin and Sport-Center reported earlier today, the Canadian forward is indeed going to play in the Jura for the next two seasons.

Guillaume Asselin will wear HC Ajoie's jersey.

In order to release Guillaume Asselin from his contract, HC Sierre demanded from HC Ajoie to pay a fee of CHF 25'000 and set a deadline for today at noon. According to Le Matin, Asselin is going to cover the sum by himself. He has reportedly agreed to forfeit CHF 12,500 of his annual salary over the next two years.

However, while HC Sierre confirms that they have come to terms with HC Ajoie in regard to Asselin, they stress, referring to Le Matin's report, that "the conditions of departure were agreed upon only bilaterally with HC Ajoie and not with the player." HC Ajoie, too, notes in their press release that the two clubs have come to a "perfect agreement."

With the acquisition of the 28-year-old forward, HC Ajoie now has three import-players on their roster for their return to the National League: an offensive line from Québec with Jonathan Hazen, Philip-Michaël Devos, and Guillaume Asselin - the three top scorers of this past season in the Swiss League.
