With their fundraising campaign "Je suis Bienne", EHC Biel is trying to cover part of their expected loss of CHF 7.5 million for the 2020-21 season.

According to the Journal du Jura, EHC Biel will likely receive about CHF 2.4 million from the " à-fonds-perdu"-pot (CHF 120,000 for every game played at home without fans). With that money, EHC Biel still needs CHF 5 million to break even.

The campaign EHC Biel has started will run until April 21. So far, CHF 2,596,008 have been donated by their season ticket holders (who have either fully or partially donated the cost of their season ticket) and other supporters. They thus need another CHF 2.4 million to reach their goal.

As for their budget for the 2021-22 season, it is difficult to assess for CEO Daniel Villard what they will have at their disposal, especially because it is difficult to attract new sponsors.

Team manager Martin Steinegger will have a certain amount at his disposal to build a new team, but they will have to discuss with the board "up to what level we can take a risk, if further funds can be released."
