The 35-year-old forward and the National League team were not able to find common ground in their contract negotiation.

"It was not an easy decision, but we could not come to an agreement. It is what it is," Marc-Antoine Pouliot tells the Bieler Tagblatt. The forward, who has been with EHC Biel since 2017, also adds that he did not feel like they really wanted to keep him.

Team manager Martin Steinegger regrets Pouliot's decision but also states that the Canadian is "not the first player to leave us for a better offer." There are rumblings that the forward has received an offer for a two-year contract from Genève-Servette HC.

If he were to sign with the Grenats, it would be his third team in the National League since his arrival in 2012. After a season in Biel, he played four years for HC Fribourg-Gottéron before returning to the Seelanders in 2017.
