Hans-Peter Strebel does not like how the discussion is going and emphasizes that it is about a package of reforms, not just the question revolving around the number of imports. "I see more opportunities than risks in it to make our league more balanced," he says to the Luzerner Zeitung.

«I give you my word that we will play with as few import-players as possible»

"There is too much emotionalizing instead of factual discussion," he criticizes and adds: "I give you my word that we will play with as few import-players as possible." Strebel promises that they will not hire a foreigner to the detriment of a very good youth player: "If we have enough talented players of our own, then I can imagine us having only three foreigners in the team at times."

That the fans should get on board in the discussion is a step in the right direction, Strebel is sure. "I can understand the fear of loss of identity. It's right to stop the debate. The fans should be able to have their say." The communication by the club's CEOs has been "poor", according to the EVZ-president.
