"You could do a test on the bike with me right now. But to be a coach now? Impossible!", Antti Törmänen explains in an interview with the Berner Zeitung. "My days are clearly structured (...) I have no idea how the body will react when I get home at 3 a.m. after an away game in Lugano. Can I recover quickly? Or will I collapse? I have to go through tests like that before I make a decision."
The 50-year-old says that the situation is mentally challenging for him and that he will get professional help in this area: "It helps to talk about it." And it is, of course, not just coaching that he misses, but normal family life: "I also fight for my family, I want to continue to be part of their future. (...) It's difficult. You want to live a normal life, but you're far from it."
For Antti Törmänen, however, it is clear that he wants to return to coaching rather sooner than later: "Time will tell when I return. (...) I'm not willing to wait five years until I'm officially considered cured. I want to work before that."
