HC Fribourg-Gottéron and Philippe Furrer have found a solution, which is "satisfying for all parties", the statement by HC Fribourg-Gottéron reads. The Swiss international thus stays in Fribourg for a fourth season.

The veteran defenseman is looking forward to playing with Raphael Diaz. "He, Julien Sprunger and I already played the U20 World Cup in Grandforks together. (...) I think it's wonderful that today, as veterans, we can once again make an impact here together in Fribourg," Furrer says. "My goal is and remains to become champion once again with HC Fribourg-Gottéron."

If Furrer and Gottéron will achieve this goal, it would be Furrer's fourth championship title - and Gottéron's first in history. Furrer already won the title three times with SC Bern (2004, 2010 and 2013).
