Switzerland's head coach is convinced that more imports would mean less chances for youngsters and criticizes the tardiness of the salary discussion.

"The people who want to do that [raising the import-player limit] are only thinking economically," Patrick Fischer says to the Neue Zürcher Zeitung. "But it's about the sport. I warn against going down that road, it's dangerous and would set us back."

Fischer, who was in Edmonton with the Swiss U20 as their assistant coach, states: "In this U20 national team, there are two players - Simon Knak and Rocco Pezzulo - who regularly play in the National League. Does anyone seriously believe that this quota will improve if you line up ten foreigners?"

Moreover, Fischer criticizes that the discussion about salaries has been around for years and nothing has been done so far: "The salary discussion was already going on when I was still playing. To me, it seems like the same people have been sitting at the same tables for twenty years and can't get a solution."
