The 30-year-old forward dealt with several concussions throughout his career and thus knows the impact such a hit can have.

In an interview with Der Bund, Alexei Dostoinov talks about his personal experience and also raises questions regarding the severity of the disciplinary action which is taken against the players who deliver hits to the head.

"The way things are now, it's a joke. A two-game suspension and a small fine for a foul that results in a concussion? That can't be it. You would have to start at six games, punish repeat offenders harder. [...] This is about our health, about our life after the career," the SCL Tigers' forward states.

He also points out that players in Switzerland, in his opinion, have not learned how to hit and to receive a hit: "[In North America] they practice this early on, it's part of the training like running, shooting, passing. In Switzerland, there are often uncontrolled hits, [...] many players jump up. That is dangerous."
