Junland's depature from Lausanne HC has been anticipated for a while now, the only thing still missing has been the club's official release of the Swede. With that now having happened, the defenseman is free to join other teams. He will presumably go in the direction of the SHL, more precisely Linköping HC, as a number of Swedish newspapers have already brought up Junland's home-town team as the most likely option.

The 32-year-old was part of the Lions for about three-and-a-half years. In a total of 169 National League appearances for them, the defender recorded 24 goals and 97 assists. In ten Champions Hockey League games, he assisted on two goals.
