News broke about a possible addition of the 36-year-old four days ago, when TSN's Frank Seravalli reported that a deal between the two parties until Christmas is in place. Upshall then hopes to represent Canada at the Spengler Cup. After the necessary medical tests, the Leventinesi now have confirmed the agreement with the former NHL-player.

Moreover, HCAP also confirmed the departure of their Czech goaltender Dominik Hrachovina. They have chosen not to make use of their option to extend Hrachovina's contract, as Benjamin Conz is expected to return. They also hope that Czech forward Jiří Novotný will be back for the Spengler Cup.
