After the contract extension with coach Kari Jalonen, SC Bern's focus is to keep defenseman Calle Andersson on board.

Negotiations between the Bears and the 25-year-old defenseman have begun, the Neue Zürcher Zeitung reports. The outcome, however, seems to be unsure. Apparently, also Lausanne HC, HC Lugano, EV Zug, or the ZSC Lions have all made a contract offer to the Swede, who is in possession of a Swiss player's license.

For SC Bern, an important point in the negotiations with Andersson might be the extension with head coach Kari Jalonen. "Many players want to know who their coach is before they decide," SCB's team manager Alex Chatelain explains to the same source.

Up to this point, ten players have expiring contracts in Bern. One of them is also forward Thomas Rüfenacht, who would like to stay. According to the NZZ, however, the 34-year-old has asked for a new multi-year deal in the capital city.
