Andrew MacDonald, longtime player of the Philadelphia Flyers and the New York Islanders, will be spending the remainder of the still young season with SC Bern.

The 33-year-old Canadian defenseman has 609 NHL- and 167 AHL-games under his belt. He made his NHL-debut with the Islanders during the 2008-09 season and was a teammate of Mark Streit for a while.

Last June, he was put on unconditional waivers by his last team, the Flyers, for the purpose of terminating his contract. He spent pre-season with the Calgary Flames on a PTO, but did not manage to land a new contract.
