After having fired head coach Mark French, the Dragons might already have a new coach behind their bench next weekend.

Team manager Christian Dubé has to find a new coach.

"Christian Dubé will study the applications in the next few days and come up with suggestions," HC Fribourg-Gottéron's president Hubert Waeber explains in an interview with the Freiburger Nachrichten. "Then we'll see if we can already start into the games of the weekend with the new coach."

The goal for HCFG's new bench boss is clear: "He must bring the joy of the game back to the players," Waeber says. "Mark French was too keen on academic hockey. It's definitely good for certain things, but the players have lost the joy of the game."

Financially, Mark French's release should not be too big of a problem for Gottéron: "He's not an expensive coach," Waeber says to the Freiburger Nachrichten. "Another coach would have cost the same in a year as French did in two and a half years."
