The restricted free agent and the Toronto Maple Leafs have still not agreed on a deal for the 2019-20 season.

Marner to train in the Hallenstadion?

Adding to a report by Rick Dhaliwal (Sportsnet), Darren Dreger (TSN) confirms that Mitch Marner's camp has contacted the ZSC Lions. Whether or not the forward will actually train with the Lions in September remains to be seen.

"We said that we are open to him training with us. But if he did, it would not be until September," the Lions' team manager Sven Leuenberger confirms to the Tages-Anzeiger's Simon Graf. Asked about whether they would consider signing Marner if all contract talks fail, Leuenberger only states that they have not thought about that yet.

Marner's agent Darren Ferris and the Leafs' GM Kyle Dubas met last week for another round of talks. While they were positive, there still was no progress made, Dreger states.

The 22-year-old forward recorded 26 goals and 68 assists in 82 games for the Toronto Maple Leafs last season. His three-year, entry-level deal with them expired this spring.
