"I'm glad it worked out. The fact that Jan definitely opted for EV Zug speaks for our strategy and our perspectives" Reto Kläy is pleased to report. The team manager of EVZ hopes for a longer-term commitment, even if the Czech has only signed for one season for the time being.

The 29-year-old forward started the 2018-19 season with the Providence Bruins in the AHL (four goals, six assists in twelve games). He joined HC Plzeň at the beginning of December and went on to record seven goals and 26 assists in 28 regular season games. Moreover, in ten games at the World Championship, he collected ten points.

Kovář comes from the junior movement of HC Pilsen, with which he won a title in 2013. From 2013 to 2018 he played in the KHL for Metallurg Magnitogorsk, winning the Russian championship, the Gagarin Cup, in 2014 and 2016 and recording 377 points in 368 KHL games. Since 2013, the center has regularly played for the Czech national team at World Championships and Olympic Games.
