It is not yet clear whether the 33-year-old American forward will wear the Biancoblù's jersey again next season.

As HCAP's head coach Luca Cereda reveals in an interview with Ticinonline, the club did not make use of the option to extend Lerg's contract. With Nick Plastino ((CAN)), Jiří Novotný ((CZE)), Matt D'Agostini ((CAN)) and Dominik Kubalík ((CZE)), the Biancoblù currently have four imports with valid contracts for the 2019-20 season. As for Kubalík, however, he is expected to leave the Ticino for North America this summer.

"At the moment we are still looking for a foreigner. The World Championship is approaching and in North America we are in the midst of the playoffs. We give ourselves the time to evaluate the whole market," Cereda explains. "Bryan Lerg is part of this market, but he will be part of it also for other teams. We are open to everything, but our option has not been activated."

Lerg joined HC Ambrì-Piotta from SHL's Rögle BK last summer. Due to several injuries, which kept him away from the ice rink for several weeks, the American appeared in only 17 Championship games this season, recording five goals.
