The head of finances, Fritz Eichenberger, announced the numbers for the 2017-18 season at Monday's general assembly. The total loss came to CHF 1.314 millions. Without the costs of the three additional import players and Hans Kossmann the Lions would have been close to a balanced result.
In fact, they managed to achieve a net revenue of CHF 24 million, their highest ever. They generated more money with the revenue of the games, more income from advertising, money from TV rights, and so on.
The Lions hope to be able to actually make money once they are in their new home. For now, another subsidy of majority shareholder Walter Frey was necessary. This time, he had to put in CHF 6 million in order to restore the balance between equity and share capital.
