National League

As Watson's Klaus Zaugg reports, Los Angeles-born defender Lucas Bachofner is about to sign a development contract with HC Davos on Monday next week.

Along with Davos, four other Swiss clubs were interested in signing the American-Swiss: SC Bern, EHC Biel, the SCL Tigers, as well as Swiss League's EHC Kloten, who would have signed him directly to a professional contract.

"At HCD, the professional, academic and sportive perspectives are ideal. Lucas can play with the Elite A juniors, the 'farm team' [HCB Ticino Rockets], and in the National League," Rolf Simmen tells Zaugg. The ex-agent of Martin Gerber orchestrated Bachofner's move to Switzerland.

The 19-year-old went through the development organization of the Los Angeles Kings and most recently played with New Jersey Rockets in the United States Premier Hockey League (USPHL), for which he managed to score 20 points (six goals, 14 assists) in 45 games last season.

My hobbies include: Water skiing, Applying sunscreen, and Flying kites
